The Navy Queen contest has also grown in stature each year. Last year the winner of the Navy Queen was given a Maruti car as the first prize apart from the return ticket to a foreign destination, and the winner of 2006 was Ms. Parvati who was crowned as winner Ms India 2008. The Navy Ball 2008 is scheduled for the 06th of December and this year also it would be organised by pax events & promotions. This year the endeavour is to increase the participation of the civilian brethren by opening the event through sale of donor passes closer to the event.

To commemorate the well publicised blockading of Pakistan and Karachi attack of 1971 the Indian Navy celebrates the 4th of December as the Navy Day. A weeklong ‘Navy Week’ celebration is organised during this time primarily to increase public awareness and to garner public support for the Navy. The Navy week culminates in the Navy Ball, the most prestigious and popular social event, graced by the civil and defence personnel in Southern India.

In peacetime, the Indian Navy maintains an eternal vigil across the seas, protecting the nation’s interests. As an ambassador of the nation the Indian Navy has contributed in good measure through voyages spanning the eastern and western limits of the proverbial seven seas. It is to this end that this year is being celebrated as “Goodwill across the oceans for peace and stability” as the theme for the Navy.
