History revisited through Theatre... Karna; Warrior of the Sun ended with a new beginning!!!
One of the strongest characters from famous Indian epic Mahabharata, Karna was re-lived recently through a theatre show at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. Produced by renowned producer Varsha Bedi and Shivani Wazir Pasrich and directed by Rudradeep Chakrabarti the show was a huge success.

The Mahabharata has been a repository of a vast number of stories portraying the endless range of human emotions of intrigue, guile, jealousy, love and also of a great sense of the play of destiny in human life, bringing forth a deeper & higher philosophy through the rendition of the Gita. Many characters hold sway in this great epic but the most poignant, dramatic persona that comes across is that of Karna, born the son of a god but destined to be brought up as one of a low caste charioteer.
Karna just for the sake of his friendship, he went against his own brothers and never ever looked back when finally he had to lose his life. How he came to the scene, went against his own brothers, the situations that made him do what happened. To make people aware about the different aspects of Karna's life and to present the truth, Varsha Bedi took the initiative and came up with this grand theatre show "Karna; Warrior of the Sun".
For the first time in the history of theatre such kind of show was being showcased. The show went on for 10 days which was highly appreciated by the audience.
The grand show was honoured by the presence of renowned celebrities like; Varsha Bedi, Shivani Wazir, Rudradeep Chakrabarti, Ambika Soni, Shiv Nader, Brij Mohan Lal Munjal, Naveen Jindal, Sheila Dixit, Tom Alter, Vasant Sathe, Uma Vasudev, Syed Saba Karim, his wife and many others.
On the occasion of closing, Varsha Bedi said, Karna was one of those characters who didn't get what he deserved and people were unaware about him, there was the need to take it to the masses. Our motive behind this show was to show the truth to the audience through one of the strongest mediums of creative art, Theatre.
We expected people to just appreciate the work, but the response we got was overwhelming. This was our first theatre production and its success is quite motivating and it was like a learning and wonderful experience.
