India Semiconductor Association (ISA) along with IT Department, Government of Karnataka & UK Trade and Investment unveils "ISA Vision Summit 2010"
Tweet-- India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the apex trade body representing the Indian semiconductor industry, along with the IT Department, Government of Karnataka and UK Trade and Investment today unveiled the 5th ISA Vision Summit 2010, at the Taj West End, Bangalore. Dr. G Madhavan Nair, Ex Chairman, ISRO, inaugurated the two-day (Feb1&2) summit. The launch function witnessed the presence of several dignitaries and industry leaders from the fields of IT, Electronics & the Semiconductor industry including Mr. Omkar Rai, Director General of STPI, Mr. Richard Hyde, British Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. Francois Gilbert, Corporate Vice President, President Greater China and South Asia region, ST MicroElectronics. ISA Vision Summit 2010 is the premier leadership forum representing the Indian electronics industry and semiconductor industry and deliberations will focus this year on the Indian market to help provide the momentum for growth in the new decade.
The ISA core council also shared the details of the recommendations submitted to Government of India on the Electronic System, Design & Manufacturing sector.
Dr. G Madhavan Nair, Ex Chairman, ISRO, giving his key notes on the occasion said, "I am proud and happy to be a part of the forum. It's a great opportunity for academics, industry and Government to come together and discuss the various issues & challenges related to the semiconductor industry. Indian R&D is progressing very well and it's a fact that growing Indian technology has not been much affected by the economic slowdown."
He further said "I am happy to know that Europe, UK and Israel are also participating in the event to build a strong foundation for Indian semiconductor Industry and this partnership is really going to help the industry. There are tremendous market opportunities for development of the semiconductor industry in India and we have excellent talent in our country, but the challenge is how best we can utilize it and bring together all the talents for the overall growth of the industry."
Mr. B V Naidu, Chairman ISA Chairman and CEO, Sagitaur Ventures India Pvt. Ltd. said that "This is the beginning of a new decade which will take the electronics systems design and manufacturing sector to the level of 400 billion dollars by 2020. If we do not encourage local innovation and manufacturing, this could create a trade imbalance to the tune of $ 300 Billion by 2020. This sector needs special attention from the govt. of India by giving it the strategic importance to set up a national electronics mission to promote the sector. The ISA is fully geared to work along with the govt. of India and the state govt's to promote this sector. The ISA vision summit is the beginning of a new wave in this direction."

Electronics can play a crucial role to accelerate the march of India to prosperity by bringing together govt., R&D, entrepreneurs and semi conductor solution providers. India can be very well poised to capture the upcoming electronic mega trends of green electronics, bio medical electronics, advanced security and advanced connectivity to serve the fast growing domestic and global markets."
