Jalandhar, Punjab, December 20, 2016 /India PRwire/ -- Two National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteer-students of Lovely Professional University have been selected to take part in the ceremonial Republic Day Parade 2017 to be held at India Gate in New Delhi. It is great national honour as these students will parade before President, Prime Minister and top international and national personalities of India and other countries. In all, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (Government of India) has selected only 200 student-volunteers from thousands of students of 5-zones across India in the toughest competition.

The selected students are Anjli Bhagat (M Sc Zoology II yr) and Nehal Agrawal (BTech CSC III Year. They have been selected keeping in view their overall performance for parade, cultural activities, proficiency to participate in debate on different social issues, and ability to depict the culture of their state. Both will also be awarded coveted testimonials from President for their gigantic participation. Of these two volunteers, Nehal is great admirer of Mother Teresa; whereas, Anjli believes in the 'Karma'philosophy of 'Bhagwad Gita'. Following her maternal grandfather, Nehal feels inspired to visit and help needy in orphanages; and, Anjli can't see anybody getting hurt in any manner. Both also share that LPU has provided them great exposure on these lines of humane activities and services.

Congratulating the students LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal said: "I am happy and proud that our students have been selected to show their talents at the top national ceremonial celebration which is witnessed live world over. It is also note-worthy that these students are from great technology and science streams; however, their volunteering zeal and talents have made them to be great participants of the 'Parade'."

Illustrative, one of the two groups of these selected volunteers from all over India will take part in prestigious parade at Rajpath - Vijay Chowk to India Gate on 26th January 2017. They will parade along with the Military, Navy, Air Force, and other Para -Military forces. The second group will present their cultural talent at the prestigious venues of the country- President House, Prime Minister House and other allied important places.
