Indiana University -Purdue University Indianapolis launches Energy Engineering Degree
Excels in multi-discipline research opportunities, with more than USD$285 million annually in external research grants
Tweet-- Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) - a unique partnership between Indiana University and Purdue University, on Wednesday August 25th, launched its new Energy Engineering Bachelor's degree for student recruitment in India.
Making the announcement in Hyderabad, Ms. Patricia Biddinger, Director of International Recruitment said, "IUPUI responded to the needs of the growing global energy industry and the careers it is generating by launching a program in Energy Engineering. We have noticed a tremendous interest among Indian students in this rapidly expanding field. We would like to invite potential aspirants to IUPUI so they can gain the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a successful career in this field."
IUPUI is one of the handful of schools across the country to offer a Bachelor's of Science in Energy Engineering, preparing students for careers in this rapidly-expanding industry. In a formal survey of industry leaders, the university found an expressed need to train an engineering workforce with the expertise to work in and develop in this nascent industry.
Commenting on the unique aspects of the university, Ms. Patricia Biddinger said, "IUPUI is ranked as the 8th best public university in the U.S. Midwest by Forbes.com. Students appreciate a big university atmosphere with a strong focus on academic success. The faculty is approachable, maintaining an open door policy and encouraging student research for both undergraduate and graduate students."
IUPUI encourages academically motivated students from India to apply by December 1, 2010 and request for scholarships and financial aid.
For the incoming Fall 2010 class, IUPUI offered more than $100,000 in scholarships to 15 undergraduate students from India, and it hopes to double these offers for Fall 2011. These scholarships are renewable annually, with potential to total more than $400,000 if students maintain GPA and. other requirements of the scholarships
IUPUI's strong external research funding base creates many opportunities for graduate students to attend IUPUI with research fellowships or assistantships. The estimated value of financial aid offered to new graduate students from India annually exceeds USD$500,000.
