New Delhi, Delhi, July 14, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- VLCC Institute of Beauty & Nutrition, Asia's largest beauty and nutrition vocational training academy with 43 campuses across 35 cities, today held its 6th Annual convocation at Epicenter, Gurgaon, coinciding with the VLCC Group's Founder's Day celebrations. The Chief Guests at the occasion were Mr. Sanjay Mehta, Independent Member of the Board of Directors, VLCC Health Care Limited and Mrs. Vandana Luthra, Founder & Mentor, VLCC. On the occasion the passing out students had put together a style show "Celebrating Style... In Style!", showcasing their talent in make up and hair styling.

Speaking at the occasion, Ms Vandana Luthra said, "Vocational education is the need of the hour. It makes individuals 'self-reliant and empowered'. I am proud to see so many young professionals entering the beauty Industry thus filling in a huge need gap, given that in the last 3 years this industry has entered a high growth phase and shall continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I see immense confidence in the youth and believe that empowering them with education will help them attain new heights in further professionalising our industry."

"A Convocation ceremony like this is just the start of a life-long journey for students. As they move on and climb the ladder of success, I would advise them to continue their quest for knowledge, as they must never stop learning", she added.

Mr. Narinder Kumar, Head - Education Business & Group CFO said, "The Wellness market is estimated to be around Rs.11,000 crores and is growing at the rate of 35%, leading to a high demand supply gap of health and beauty professionals in this segment. I am confident that the training on techniques and best practices that our students have received at the VLCC Institute has equipped them to take on any challenge that the fast growing and highly demanding beauty industry may throw up to them."

This year's convocation is a landmark for the VLCC Institute with the passing out of its first batch of the Post Graduate Diploma in Cosmetology (PGDC) students.

At the convocation the VLCC Institute students showcased their make-up and hair styling expertise through a spectacular style show titled "Celebrating Style... In Style!", outfits for which were provided by Study By Janak. There was also a beautiful dance performance by the children of the NGO Khushii.

In addition, the VLCC Group awarded scholarships to five best students of the VLCC family. These scholarships are part of the Academic Achievement Awards initiative started in 2005 to recognize the scholastic achievements of the children of the VLCC family.
