Emerging Trends in Advanced Computing & Informatics - A National Conference at Shobhit University, Meerut, India
As one of the youngest university in the country, Shobhit University, Meerut has regularly been organizing International and National Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Short term courses to empower young students with a view to acquaint them with recent trends and motivate them to take up research projects. This year the School of Computer Engineering and Information Technology had organized the 1st National Conference on 'Emerging Trends in Advanced Computing and Informatics, (CICON-2010) on the 8th& 9th May 2010 with the aim to provide common platform for eminent experts, faculty members, working professionals, research scholars and students to share innovative ideas and motivate young researchers to report their research and discuss their work with experts from industries and research organizations.

On the eve of the Conference, in his message Honorable Chancellor Shri Shobhit ji, congratulated the planners of the conference as well as the renowned scientists, scholars and young faculty members, to share their experiences and to motivate the participants during the two day sessions.
Convener of the Conference, Prof.. R.P. Agarwal on behalf of the Organizing Committee briefed on the theme that included Soft Computing, Knowledge Discovery, Data Mining & Data Warehousing, Intelligent Systems, Internet & Web Technology, Wireless & Mobile Computing, Network Security, High Performance Networking, Cloud Computing, Image Processing, Program Paradigms, Multimedia & Animation, VLSI and Embedded Systems, Computer- aided Drug Designing, Bioinformatics, Bio-Imaging Techniques etc. He mentioned that the fact remains that in recent years teaching and research have been dramatically impacted by the availability of faster computers, enormous databases and advances in soft computing., teaching strategies and research designs that have a inter-disciplinary application.
Dr. R.C.Joshi, Professor, IIT Roorkee, Dr. A. K. Sharma, Prof.& Dean, YMCA University, Faridabad, Dr. Manoj Mishra ,IIT Roorkee, Dr. R.N. Saha, Prof & Dy. Director, BITS, Pilani, Dr. amit Kumar Goel, Manager, Evalue Serve, Gurgaon, Dr. S. Sarkar, Prof. & Director, SEE, Shobhit University, Dr. B. K. Kaushik, IIT Roorkee, etc. delivered their Keynote addresses and invited talks in the field of Cloud Computing, Crawling, Future of Internet, Computer assisted approach for Drug Designing, Mobile Ad-Hoc Network, Carbon Nanotube,VLSI interconnects, high performance computing etc. that were highly appreciated and well reserved by the participants.
The Conference received an overwhelming response from almost all parts of India as it attracted about one hundred sixty papers. All the papers were reviewed by a technical committee and about eighty five papers were finally selected for oral and poster presentations. The papers selected for oral presentation, poster presentation and abstracts of Keynote addresses & Invited Talks were included in the Conference alongwith proceedings. Proceedings of the Conference were released by the Pro Chancellor, Shri Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra ji during the inaugural session of the Conference. Shri Shekhar ji in his address emphasized that advanced computing and informatics is an unique engineering discipline which provides scientific base, to make engineering decisions more reliable, spontaneous & creative till the time they can actually produce the desired products. Progress and advances in niche areas would require concentrated efforts to undertake and promote higher technical education and novel research activities such as the initiative being mentioned that the University has organized over 40 Seminars, Workshops & Conferences during the academic session ensure better exposure and an interactive temperament of the students. He quoted extensively from various sources and cited Bill Gates. Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Anoop Swarup stated in his address that the great thing about the computer is that no matter how much you stuff into it, it does not get bigger but become more intelligent and smarter. Conference provided the participant stimulating and vibrant environment for further research and learning in emerging areas.
The valedictory function was held on 9th May 2010 and culminated with the distribution of certificates to the participants by Prof. A.K. Sharma.
