National Social Entrepreneurship Forum connects 25 rising stars to 13 of India's most successful entrepreneurs

The National Social Entrepreneurship Forum was conceived with a mission to support and promote social entrepreneurship among the youth. NSEF expands the pool of capable social entrepreneurs by focusing on university students and recent graduates. As future leaders, students and recent graduates at top business and technology schools provide existing social ventures the talent and skills needed to let them grow. Keeping this in mind, NSEF strives to educate these students and recent graduates about social problems, expose them to the opportunities in the sector, and foster innovation in solving social problems. Through this process, NSEF tries to create high quality ecosystems where it can guide budding entrepreneurs to create and sustain social ventures successfully and generate tremendous social impact. NSEF ultimately aims to create a critical mass of young, dynamic and inspired individuals that can help transform India.

Panaji, Goa, May 21, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- After combing through over 400 applicants, the National Social Entrepreneurship Forum (NSEF) has selected its inaugural class for the Author Programme. NSEF's Author Programme places 25 top candidates in premier social entrepreneurship organizations across India, including Samhita Social Ventures, Rangde, Industree, Zameen Organics, Saath, Source for Change and Ecosphere among others. NSEF strongly believes that promoting social entrepreneurship and equipping social entrepreneurs with the right tools are of utmost importance to realize society's growth potential and to create a long-term impact.

The cohort of young individuals selected for this Author Programme represent a diverse set of potential change-makers who have either had international social work exposure, or have worked at a variety of local non-profits, or have exhibited business management skills and acumen early in life. Most of these individuals are students/recent graduates of reputed academic institutes like IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Gandhinagar, BITS-Pilani, BITS-Goa, St. Stephen's, St. Xavier's, IIM-Lucknow, Anna University & VIT University among others. The Author Programme will work alongside the upcoming NSEF 2.0 initiative, which popularizes social entrepreneurship extensively through the Web 2.0 media. Through contests like blogging, people passionate about social entrepreneurship get an international platform to highlight their ideas and experiences and get their views noticed. Two months of unforgettable experience at the grassroots, a chance to change the world and a window to explore endless possibilities in social entrepreneurship is what NSEF Author is all about. At the end of internship these interns will meet to attend a workshop and mentorship session by reputed social entrepreneurs and will 'author' their story of experiences, key learnings, and a story of how they changed the world around them.
