Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, the renowned vocalist, inaugrates SPICMACAY FEST '10
SPICMACAY Mumbai chapter is inaugurating its FEST '2010 with a vocal recital by renowned classical vocalist Smt. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Deonar on 25th February 2010 at 7:00 pm.

The Fest series of programmes will see over 50 events across Mumbai over the next two months and which would include talks by eminent people, workshops, movie screening and classical dance, vocal and instrumental concerts. Some of the institutes that would be participating in SPICMACAY Mumbai FEST '2010 are TISS, IITB, NITIE, TIFR, IGIDR, St. Mary's School Koparkhairane, ITM Kharghar, Lilavatibai Poddar School, to name a few.
The concerts will see presence of stalwarts like Zia Fariduddin Dagar, Arti Ankalikar-Tikekar, Pt. Nayan Ghosh, Ustad Baha'uddin Dagar, and also a series of programmes by folk artistes from West Bengal - a highly energetic and colourful art form called the 'Purulia Chau'
Across the country SPIC MACAY has organized over 2500 events in various educational institutes in this academic year.
Vikram Bansal, Chief coordinator of SPICMACAY Mumbai says that, "The aim of SPICMACAY is to bring the best of our culture and heritage to the young person; to give him/her a chance to also explore this aspect of his surroundings amidst all the other inputs from world over that he/she is getting. "
SPIC MACAY(Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) was founded in 1977, as a non-profit, voluntary movement for the promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture. Its objective is to facilitate the exchange of traditional Indian values and to generate awareness amongst the youth about the rich cultural traditions and heritage of India and to bring cultural and aesthetic awareness into the mainstream of the Indian educational system.
At present SPIC MACAY is present in over 1000 academic institutions and holds a staggering more than 2500 events every year in over 300 cities in India and 50 cities abroad.
Those who wish to join Spic Macay may attend our weekly meetings at Inst. Of Chemical Technology (ICT), Matunga (E), every Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.
