Technology Incubation Centre established at DTU

Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering, has established a Technology Incubation Centre at its Knowledge Park

New Delhi, Delhi, February 8, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- With a view to accelerate the pace of innovation and create learning environment of 21st century, Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering, has established a Technology Incubation Centre at its Knowledge Park, which was inaugurated by Mr. J.P. Singh, Principal Secretary, Finance, Govt. of NCT of Delhi and Mr. Anand Prakash, Principal Secretary, Training & Technical Education, Govt. of Delhi in the presence of Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, Prof. R.K. Sinha, Dean, IRD, DTU and other Deans and Head of the Departments of the University on February 6, 2010.

Knowledge Park also houses 1GBPS connectivity provided for National Knowledge Network Node at DTU. Mr. Medhavin Goyal, final year student of B.E. Computer Science and the chief student coordinator and his team drawn from various academic departments, is actively involved in the day to day management of Knowledge Park and also to enhance its usage for variety of applications including access to open source expert lectures available from leading institutions in India and abroad including Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Science and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, among others. The connectivity of Knowledge Park will be extended shortly to around 400 networked computers in the main library of DTU to enable large number of students to use this facility for education, research and innovation. Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Singh remarked, "This initiative of DTU will provide exposure and platform to the students to bring the very best out of them. We extend our full support and would like to see DTU reaching new heights of excellence in the times to come."

The Technology Incubation Centre established in Knowledge Park is equipped with 30 connected work stations besides other expert and secretarial support. These will be utilized by students and mentor faculty for incubation of their ideas into viable technology and product innovations. The DTU will set up a 'Mentoring Cell' in the Knowledge Park, which will regularly filter out viable ideas for incubation and new product development.

The next phase of Knowledge Park has also been planned which shall house world class analytical and testing facility in its multi-disciplinary design engineering Computer Aided Design (CAD) centre, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Centre and test houses. Further a Knowledge Technology (KT) Centre will also be set-up to facilitate the growth of next generation Knowledge Technology to significantly enhance the man to man and man to machine interface. A design centre for VLSI Design and embedded system will also form part of the Knowledge Park of DTU.
