NDSU (USA) and LPU ink MoU for collaborative efforts to boost higher education

NDSU (USA) team lands at LPU to sign MoU on furthering diverse aspects of higher education.

Chandigarh, Punjab, January 27, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- A team of three senior executives from North Dakota State University, USA visited Lovely Professional University and signed a MoU with the senior management of the latter with the aim of bringing the best of US education to the door steps of Indian students. Among those from the visiting delegation were Dr. Karen Froelich (Director- MBA programs NDSU), Dr. Robert Stan Herren (Professor, Deptt. of Economics-NDSU) and Ms. Tanya Kramer (Study Abroad Advisor NDSU).

As a part of the visit, NDSU evaluated 41 courses of LPU in Management and Engineering areas, with a possible arrangement of student transfer. The online curriculum of NDSU was discussed and initial matching of course scheme of BBA, MBA (Business) and B.Tech (Mechanical) was proposed to be done by LPU shortly. NDSU also discussed the evaluation and conversion of transcripts and grade system (both CGPA to GPA and vice versa) by WES (World Education Services). In addition, grading system of both the Universities was discussed to bring about a parity in the evaluation standards of the two Universities.

Dr. Herren in his statement about the changing paradigms of Indian professional education said, 'Looking in hindsight, Indian professionals have always been welcomed in the West. With Indian education poised for greater heights, US universities are excited to get tied up with Indian counterparts to learn the models and methodologies that produce the best students in the whole world."

The draft MoU that has been put forward by the two Universities stated that both LPU and NDSU will work together in the field of Twinning Programs in the Management and Engineering areas at Under Graduate and Graduate level; Faculty Exchange programs, Joint Research programs, Mapping of Curriculum for Credit Transfer in the field of Masters of Business Administration, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Technology, Cultural visit by the Students of NDSU at LPU, Student Exchange programs.

Shri Ashok Mittal, Chancellor-LPU stated, "Its an era of pooling up of resources and strengths to generate maximum benefits for maximum number of people. The future cooperation between the two Universities will aim at striking the best of both worlds, for the betterment of learning imparted at respective campuses."
