Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI) & Honeywell Life Safety organized the Fire Safety Day, a Fire Safety Awareness Program with the support of Delhi Fire Service, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, in Ryan International, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi on 12th Jan '09.
Mr. Arun Khazanchi, President, Fire and Security Association of India said that the "Most Indians have no idea how to react to emergency or disaster situations and most deaths which happen in fire is because of panic and stampede. It is an interactive Program organized by a professional trainer, training school children on various measures and precautions to prevent fire. The purpose of teaching school kids is to start very early stage in life and understand how to react to situations which demand quick thinking without panic. Children have impressionable minds and will remember for rest of their life how a positive attitude can save lives in fire conditions.
Fire Safety Awareness Day is an initiative taken to educate School Children at grass root level regarding Fire Safety and emergency management to avoid any major accident due to Fire. Live demos which includes mock drills like Fireman Lift techniques are also organized with with fire engines to educate children well, remarked, Delhi Chapter President, FSAI, Mr Rakesh Arora.
MD, Ryan Group of Institutions, Madam Grace Pinto quoted: Fire Safety Day is a great initiative to help children learn the various facets of preventing fire and how to act smartly and prevent lives rather than create chaos in a fire mishap. The program has really helped in generating more awareness and responsibility among our children.
