Maharashtra Education Society celebrates its 150th year

Pune, Maharashtra, January 12, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- Maharashtra Education Society, an emblem of educational excellence, is celebrating 150 years of success and achievement. The Society has planned to enliven this timeless moment with eternal music that will eternally get imprinted in the minds of the audience.

Youth icon Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain and the young prodigal Sarangi player Sabir Khan are set to enthrall the Puneites with their live performances on 15th January 2010 at 6.30 pm at Abasaheb Garaware College Ground, Karve Road, Pune.

The programme titled 'Chirantan' (eternal) is unique in more ways than one. It signifies the eternal value of education imparted by the committed MES Society and eternal joy that springs from music. The trust inspired by the MES Society in the minds of its students and associates is also eternal.

Zakir Hussain, an international phenomenon in the field of percussion, has to his credit consistently brilliant and exciting performances, worldwide. His playing is marked by uncanny intuition and masterful improvisational dexterity, founded in formidable knowledge and study. Today Zakir Hussain is a living legend in the world of Indian as well as World Music. He is an example to emulate by several young aspiring musicians. Zakir Hussain said he was glad to perform on such a precious moment in the history of one of Pune's most renowned educational institutes.

Zakir Hussain Son of the legendary tabla player Ustad Alla Rakha ,a child prodigy, started touring by the age of twelve. He went to the United States in 1970, embarking on an international career which includes innumerable concerts. He has composed and recorded many albums and soundtracks, and has received widespread recognition as a composer for his many ensembles and collaborations.

Chirantan is the just right way to celebrate the success of the MES Society, which has worked ceaselessly and consistently in education. Commencing with one small educational institute in Pune, MES today has 51 educational institutes across Maharashtra imparting education from primary school level to the level of management institutes, to more than 40,000 students said Mr.Wanjarwadkar-CEO of Maharashtra Education Society.

MES has always strived to shape up better human beings. Its alumni are comprised of academically brilliant students and sportsmen of repute.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, MES has planned a year long celebration of its sesquicentennial year. During the period November 09 to Nov 10, MES has planned a plethora of educational, cultural and social activities involving its management, teaching staff, students and citizens.
