-- Santa Sonam Kapoor delighted 500 Anganwadi kids at a special event held in the city today. Organised by NGO Landmark International Foundation for Empowerment (LIFE Trust), The 'Joy In A Box' initiative aims to spread the joy of Christmas across the Anganwadis (pre-primary Government-aided nurseries) in Mumbai. The Trust has collected over 2,000 new educational toys that will benefit over 5,000 Anganwadi children.
The 'Joy In A Box' initiative was rolled out in November with contribution centres at schools, colleges and offices in Mumbai. LIFE Trust appealed to several educational institutions, corporates, toy manufacturers and philanthropists. The response from the large-hearted Mumbaikars was overwhelming and culminated into a gala Christmas party where the best performing Anganwadis were facilitated.
Mrs. Poonam Lalvani, Managing Trustee, LIFE Trust, said, "We've received an overwhelming response from the people of Mumbai. I would like to thank Sonam Kapoor and all those who lent their support to our cause. We currently support 175 Anganwadi's and reach out to 10,000 students and are looking at extending our reach in the new year. The Trust has introduced several pioneering initiatives this year and the Christmas party was a fitting culmination to the efforts of the students, teachers and the volunteers of LIFE Trust.
