AIDS Awareness Campaign by LPU Students

LPU students visit adjoining villages with a message on World AIDS Day

Chandigarh, Punjab, December 3, 2009 /India PRwire/ -- Lovely Professional University with the aim to generate awareness amongst the students and general masses organized an "AIDS awareness Campaign" in and around its campus today. The main agenda of the campaign this year is 'Universal Access and Human Rights' which LPU followed aptly by educating the people and spreading understanding amongst those sections of the society most susceptible to it.

The students at LPU on the AIDS Awareness Day wore Red Ribbons so as to mark their participation on the occasion. Students of MBA (Hospitality & Health care Management) and BBA from Lovely School of Business made human chain on the highway and brought to fore the menace of AIDS, staring in the face of humanity. The students also played "Nukkar Nataks" at various locations adjacent to University campus and performed one act plays in various schools of adjoining villages, underlining the importance of educating the students about the deadly disease. They also carried banners and charts bearing messages to educate people about the preventive measures to prevent the spread of the disease. A visit to families in the nearby areas was also made so as to reach out to more people and pamphlets pertaining to the cause were distributed. "I feel proud to be a part of the cause and have done something for the people around," said Mayank, a student of Lovely School of Business.

LPU is famous for active participation in issues which involve generating awareness and spreading education which has been observed in prior occasions also. "We wanted to sensitize people about the issue and spread knowledge amongst them. The students have participated with full fervor and shown a lot of enthusiasm towards their social responsibility which is noteworthy," said Er.
