SPACE fulfills the desire of a Telescope by a young Leukemia pateint

Ganesh a 14 yr old child suffering from acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, is being treated in Bangalore. He made a wish for a personal telescope which was gladly fulfilled by SPACE; looking to ignite young minds towards science and astronomy.

New Delhi, Delhi, July 3, 2009 /India PRwire/ -- SPACE in its continuous endeavor to reach out to the masses with science popularisation and to fulfill curiosity and excitement of young minds; has been taking initiatives that satiate their curiosity. From organizing events, competitions, public watches, activities and space carnivals; it is leaving no stone unturned to popularise science.

Every now and then an inquisitive young mind comes along and fires up more the zeal of SPACE to work with kids. One such bright mind is Ganesh Chakragiri all of 14 years who has apassion for the stars and the sky above. His curious mind runs wild thinking of the twinkling stars, the moon and the sun. Very often at night he calls upon his parents to ask them questions about astronomy. Ganesh, a patient of acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia is a heartwarming story of a kid with stars in his eyes but bogged down by a life threatening disease.

It was in late June that Ganesh, expressed his wish of having a personal telescope to the Make a Wish foundation in Bangalore and the word spread about this child’s fantasy. SPACE got news of this on a mailing list for amateur astronomers and pledged full hearted support within 24 hours. A telescope was flown specially from SPACE’s Delhi office to its Bangalore office; so that it could be gifted to this young astronomer.

On receiving the Telescope, all could see the joy on Ganesh’s face and contentment in his parent’s eyes. Ganesh’s tryst with astronomy and sky has begin; every night now and then one can see the young astronomer Ganesh on his rooftop gazing in the sky and his dreams.

SPACE is privileged to have been able to fulfill the wish of Ganesh and is happy to ignite young minds with the wonders of science and astronomy.

Established in 1996, Make AWish Foundation of India has granted in excess of 15000 wishes. By granting acherished wish for a child with a life threatening illness, a wish experiencecan give back what the illness takes away, Hope, Strength and Joy. It can helpthe children forget about being sick. How to laugh out loud and keep makingplans for the future.
