LPU comes out with the largest scholarship scheme in country
Student can avail scholarship worth 1 lakh /year
Tweet-- With education being the engine of social and intellectual growth of the nation, the progress of the latter is hugely dependent on how many children can be educated in the country and quality of education is imparted to them. But the bigger predicament for students belonging to economically lower strata of the society is t they have hardly any access to quality education, owing to the fact that quality comes with a price.
Lovely Professional University, which while talking of Punjab & adjoining states, has been credited with bringing in tremendous changes in way professional education is imparted; has made an earnest attempt to find solution to the predicament of students who find it hard to study because of financial constraints.
In what is being termed as India's largest Scholarship Scheme, LPU is offering scholarships to more than 1000 students securing more than 70% marks in qualifying examination. The students aspiring to take admission in graduation courses of engineering, pharmacy, architecture and BHMCT will be provided with a scholarship worth Rs. One lakh per year, through out their course provided they maintain a CGPA of 8.0 on an annual basis. There are different brackets of scholarship amount varying from Rs 1,00,000; (for students scoring more than 90%), Rs 75,000; (for students scoring more than 80%), Rs 50,000; (for students scoring more than 70%), and for students seeking admissions in various courses. The scholarships are also provided to students for students having more than 80 percentile in CAT exam and 90 percentile in MAT exams.
Chancellor Ashok Mittal while declaring the new scholarship policy states, “Talent is not captive to anything. Unfortunately, many of the talented students have to compromise on their careers because of financial hardships. This is an ominous signal for a developing country that aspires to be the knowledge hub of the world. LPU's scholarship scheme aims at realizing the dreams of all those who seriously chase their dreams. Our initiative is more of a reward rather than support.” A representative of the university said response to the scheme was overwhelming, with students making queries from as far as Tamil Nadu and Tripura. Since the award is for limited number of students, the students have already started applying for scholarship.
