IIPH offers short term summer courses for career advancement of healthcare professionals and graduates
Indian Institute of Public Health - Hyderabad (IIPH), the first institute established by the Public Health Foundation of India, announced to offer short term summer courses in the areas of Data Management, Statistical Analysis and Research Methods related to health. IIPH - Hyderabad will build capacity in public health using the pool of highly qualified and diverse faculty of nationally and internationally trained public health professionals.

Detailing on the courses, Dr. G. Rama Das, Emissary, IIPH, Hyderabad explained that, “The courses are specially designed for working professionals who are hard pressed for time, students interested in learning programming skills in their respective domain areas, and the academicians and research staff willing to hone their conceptual skills. With a vision to promote open source learning, we are conducting programming skills coupled with the theory behind the quantitative methods.”
The summer course modules in SAS, SPSS, Stata, Excel are aimed to give the learners an opportunity to understand, apply, analyze and evaluate their critical thinking in the field of research with special emphasis on the development of soft skills. The week long programs are aimed at providing and edge for career advancement to working professionals and fresh graduates. The Health Research Methods workshop is designed to promote sound understanding of both qualitative and quantitative methods for analyzing the data collected by the grass root researchers.
The Grant Proposal Writing Workshop is intended to explain the various sources of funding, the key successful steps to gain the funding required and key components of a successful grant proposal. The summer institute will start the following courses from June 1st 2009.

- Data Management workshop using SPSS ®: 15 July - 20 July 09
- Data Management workshop using STATA ®: 21 July - 23 July 09

About Indian Institute of Public Health - Hyderabad (IIPH):
The Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) at Hyderabad is established by PHFI under a public-private partnership with Government of Andhra Pradesh.
