Vice Chancellor of BITS, Pilani Dr. L. K. Maheshwari visited Tolani Maritime Institute Talegaon campus to address new entrants of the batch 2008.He welcomed all of them to TMI and BITS family. He proudly gave scores of famous names who are alumnus of BITS and made big name in their respective fields.

During his address, he gave broad view of collaboration of TMI with BITS, Pilani. He appreciated and admired the efforts, vision and passion of Dr. N. P. Tolani to establish the beautiful campus at Talegaon and converting it to one of the premiere Marine Engineering institute in India.

Dr. Maheshwari described about the emphasis on continual evaluation and assessment system of examinations and transparency involved in awarding marks and grades adopted by BITS. He also mentioned about the importance of strong orientation to teach basic science and engineering in the curriculum for the benefit of students. In the era of globalisation, he insisted on the effectiveness of inculcating soft skills among students, where they are required to work in multicultural environment and interact with people who belong to various nationalities.

Lastly, he called the students to use the excellent sports infrastructure, library and computer facilities available on the campus to develop themselves and come out with flying colours.

Dr. Sujata Naik, Vice Chairperson, Governing Council, TMI and Dr. Natarajan Dean BITS, Pilani were also present during the occasion.
