TeamLease launches India's Job Hotline (600 12345) in Eleven languages on Independence Day

TeamLease, India's largest staffing company, is a people supply chain company at the intersection of India's challenges and opportunities in Employment and Employability; The company's experience in job melas with governments exposed a need for a national hotline to tackle the matching problem (connecting talent supply and jobs) as also the mismatch problem (assessing and repairing unemployable talent for jobs); TeamLease is launching India's Job Hotline 600 12345 in eleven languages on Aug 15th, 2008. Any candidate can call this number for registration and an upto 8 minute preliminary assessment, 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week; Each caller will receive a unique candidate ID for live information on job status at www.teamlease.com, future calls to 600 12345, or for the next level "by invitation" assessment; The next level "by invitation" assessment for one hour gives a four page feedback report to the candidate on Knowledge, Skills, Aptitude and Behavior. This assessment will be processed by our job matching algorithms to try matching with our 200 Ideal Candidate Profiles (ICP's) that includes jobs like sales, finance, admin, supervisors, etc. All candidates assessed will be called within 72 hours to discuss career prospects, options, etc.; This next level "by invitation" assessment will be rolled out in phases but immediately available at 150 centers across the country that include TeamLease offices and partners like Employment Exchanges, Drishtee, Comat, IL&FS (CSC Scheme), etc.; Candidates who are not "job ready" but "near fits" will receive counseling for training with TeamLease's training partners. After training, the candidate would be jointly certified by TeamLease and their upgraded profile would be reprocessed by our job matching algorithms against our ICP's.

TeamLease Services, India's largest staffing company, today announced that it will launch India’s Job Hotline (600 12345) in eleven languages on Independence day, Aug 15th, 2008. The need for a national hotline emerged from job melas organized jointly with various governments because of the poor access for labour market outsiders (less skilled, less educated, people from small towns, women coming back from a child break, retired people or students looking for part-time work, etc) to jobs and relevant training.

All callers will receive a unique candidate ID and an upto 8 minute preliminary assessment that enters them in our proprietary job matching engine. Candidates shortlisted (based on education and skills) will be invited to take a one hour advanced assessment at 150 centers across the country which will give them detailed feedback based on Knowledge, Skills, Aptitude and Behavior. This detailed assessment substantially increases the effectiveness of our job matching algorithms and all assessed candidates will receive a call from TeamLease within 72 hours to talk about prospects, options, etc.

All candidates for whom our proprietary algorithms are not able to find job matches will receive a call from our training counselors to find the best fit our panel of training partners for short term courses from 15 days to 4 months. After training, they will be jointly certified by TeamLease and their upgraded profile will be re-entered into the job matching engine.

The 600 12345 service is our Independence day offering to India’s many labour market outsiders who have been handicapped in accessing India’s growth. It is now widely accepted that our labour markets have three problems; Matching (connecting people to jobs), Mismatch (repairing unemployable supply for jobs) and Pipeline (preparing youth in school for jobs). 600 12345 aims to sabotage inequality of opportunity by tackling the first two”

Unemployability is a bigger problem than Unemployment today with 57% of India’s youth suffering from some kind of skill deprivation. India’s five labour market transitions (farm to non-farm, rural to urban, unorganized to organized, school to work and subsistence self-employment to decent wage employment) represent journeys to a better life for most Indians but our people supply chain is not working; candidates can’t find jobs, trainers can’t find candidates and employers cannot find the right candidates. 600 12345 is expected to receive over 5000 calls per day and will serve as an aggregator to channelize youth into jobs or training.

The helpline will be available from 8 am to 8 pm on all days including Sundays. In the first phase, starting August 15th 2008, our call centre will be available in eleven languages (English, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi, Marwari, Oriya, Bengali, and Manipuri). For three months the “by invitation” assessment will be restricted to graduates and diploma holders and only available in English. Over six months 600 12345 would expand in phases:
