National Conference - "Innovation In Education"

DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi- a major non- governmental educational organization- has been sensitively responding to the new developments in education. For analytical deliberations on various significant aspects related to innovation in education, Dayanand Institute of Education Management and Research (DIEMR)- a DAV Enterprise- had organized a National Conference on "Innovation in Education" which was held recently at the Indian Habitat Center, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi.

DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi- a major non- governmental educational organization- has been sensitively responding to the new developments in education. For analytical deliberations on various significant aspects related to innovation in education, Dayanand Institute of EducationManagement and Research (DIEMR)- a DAV Enterprise- had organized a National Conference on "Innovation in Education" which was held recently at the Indian Habitat Center, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi.

The program was inaugurated by the "Lighting of the Traditional lamp" after which the Presidential Address and was delivered by Padmashree G.P. Chopraji, President – DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi and the Chief Guest for the event was Dr. R. C. Sobati, VC, Punjab University Dr. K.B. Kushal, Director, DIEMR delivered the Key Note address and welcomed all the Principals, VCs and esteemed guests.

This program was attended by Vice Chancellors, Principals, Vice-Principals and Teachers from Schools and Colleges across Delhi City.

Amongst Prominent Speakers the following were present at the Function:

· Shri Rajan Velukar, VC, Yashwantrao Chauhan Open University, Maharashtra

· Prof Vinayank Dalvi, Dy. Secy, Raj Bhavan, New Delhi

Speaking at the Conference, CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly plans to introduce changes that offer welcome relief. Shri Ganguly said "Students up to class 2 will not carry schoolbags or notebooks to school. No homework will be given."

The National level 2 day program saw over 250 vice-chancellors, principals, vice-principals and teachers from reputed school and colleges from across Delhi. Many people from various educational institutions gave presentations on various innovations in education. Ganguly's presentation was on what he called the four P's of education namely the Plant, the Process, the People and the Product.

GP. Chopra, President of DAV said, "We continue to churn out graduates who do not have what it takes to survive in a knowledge economy. In the post globalization era, we have begun to discover that education is not generating human resources the country needs to meet global challenges. Barring the IITs and IIMs, the general quality of education continues to be weak.
