Company Profile

University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT) has been building a football team for the past two years but always lacked the proffesional touch. UICT came close to reaching the finals on many occasions but never actually made it through to the finals. We realised that we needed help, and what better way than to get the guidance of PIFA (Premier India Football Academy). We had 16 training sessions organised by PIFA. PIFA showed us our faults which we never realised were wrong or even existed. They introduced new excercises and gave us the belief to play well and attack in a structured manner. The results were excellent and swift. UICT won two tournaments this year. This was possible because of the efforts of coach Nirvan Shah, Karim Sheik and Chirag Sheik.

7 a side football tournament (part of Kurukshetra - an intercollege sports tournament organised by J. J. Medical College, Mumbai)
UICT won the 7 a side football tournament quite convincingly by beating the home team J. J. Medical College by a score of 5-0. Goals scored by Pravin Bollini, Prathamesh Malge (two), Rahul Surve and Nikhil Basutkar. The matches were conducted at J. J. Medical College football ground.

Fr. Conceicao Rodgrigues Memorial Football Tournament 2008.
Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues Memorial Football Tournament 2008 was organised by Fr. Agnels College of Engineering, Bandra. It was a proper 11 a side football tournament and the matches were played at St. Xaviers Ground, Parel. This was one of the most competitive tournaments organised this year. It was an invitational tournament and only the top teams were invited. UICT were clearly the underdogs of the tournament having not won a single 11 a side football tournament ever. What was really exciting about winning this tournament was that UICT beat all the teams to whom we used to get knocked out in various tournaments. UICT beat Watumal College 2-0 in the first match. Goals by Nikhil Basutkar and Suvid Joshi. Then went on to beat DJ Sanghvi 1-0 on penalties. In the semis UICT beat Fr. Agnels, Bandra 1-0. Goal scored via a free kick by Gurpreet Singh. The finals were against Don Bosco Institute of Technology. UICT defeated them 1-0 and the goal was scored by Pravin Bollini. DJ Sanghvi, Fr. Agnels and Don Bosco Institute of Technology have been winners of most of the football tournaments in recent times. To win the tournament by defeating such teams was another high for UICT.

The future of football looks very bright at UICT. Currently, our football ground is being renovated i.e. the level of the playing field is being raised and the surface levelled. It would never have been possible to convince the college authorities to renovate the ground unless we had won so many tournaments in different sports in the same year. Part of the credit goes to PIFA. UICT hope to start training with PIFA for the next season as early as possible to continue winning more and more tournaments.
