NCore Web Services, founded by a team of ex. IIT'ians led by Suyash Katyayani, who refused offers from the coveted Indian Institutes of Management to start this unique Learning company launches its first web product, VidyaCenter.com.
He embarked upon VidyaCenter along with batch-mates Ashish Kashikar and Manu Midha, both collegues from IIT under the guidance of Ben Goswami, a '93 IIT Kharagpur pass-out.
It all started with Ben Goswami, a silicon valley entrepreneur, who wanted to utilize the advantages of Internet to innovate Indian education space. He came across this enthusiastic bunch of IITians who shared a similar vision, and were ready to plunge headlong into it. With Ben's huge industry experience in companies like Google, Yahoo, etc and Suyash-Ashish-Manu's effervescent zeal, all the ingredients were in place. He flew down to India, and after a few hundred cups of coffee and endless discussions, VidyaCenter.com was born.
What sets him and his team apart from others is the entrepreneurial spirit and passion. Quitting high paying jobs and starting on their own the journey has been very satisfying so far and promises to be very rewarding.
VidyaCenter.com is a concept to connect the best teachers to students over an online platform. Similar in concept to a marketplace like eBay for buyers / sellers, VidyaCenter.com is India's first learning market. Here Teachers mean individuals, training institutes and coaching institutes.
VidyaCenter originated with the desire to revolutionize the Indian supplemental education sector.
We feel that learning is not just about reading theory, solving problems and giving tests. To figure out the whats and wheres of studying, a student consults a whole lot of seniors / batch mates, researches and compares institutes. Similarly, upon studying a student might wish to compare his performance with his peers, located remotely anywhere in the country.
All these features make VidyaCenter stand out as a one stop destination for students to chose and study from the best teacher of his choice.
VidyaCenter has partnered with educational service providers in the foray - both individuals and institutes to enable the exchange. It has almost 400 individual providers and around 40 institutes signed up for its Beta launch. Initial reviews from students have been extremely encouraging.
In addition to the online offering, few schools and colleges in Bangalore have expressed interest in their services. Vidyacenter also offers various contact programs and workshops to students to supplement their formal education. These are structured to help their students become more job ready and competitive.
