Canadian Institutions set to Expand footprint in India through SMOT Partnership
Tweet-- SMOT, B-School which moulds a wide range of in-demand career tracks relevant management degree’s graduates for industries such as IT, Manufacturing, Services, Healthcare and Retail has announced an expansive collaboration with the worlds largest professional consulting body, Canadian Association of Management Consulting (CAMC) to offer PGPM, management consulting degree in Finance, Marketing, IT and HR as part of its Global Branding effort. Under the collaborative initiative 3 faculties from CAMC and SMU will visit SMOT this fall to offer 108 hours of class in various most current topics in management.
The SMOT campus at Chennai is strategically located on the IT highway, in the vicinity of TIDEL Park with world class facilities and ambience. 50 students are currently enrolled with the PGPM program and the strength of the faculty is 25. The campus placement program at SMOT has attracted renowned companies. The students are expected to close the year with an impressive average CTC. SMOT Campus in Hyderabad is moving towards completion and it hopes to start the school shortly.
Making the announcement Dr. Narasimhan, Director of SMOT said,
“Consulting in Finance, Marketing, IT and HR. Consulting as specialization in MBA is a unique feature in SMOT, currently not offered as a career track option in any business school in India.”
SMOT in a short span of time is achieving global recognition for its unique innovation in B-School education methodology. It is attracting attention from leading management schools for possible alliance from other countries involving full academic and financial support. Dr. Narasimhan said SMOT perceives global alliances such as the Canadian partnerships having societal angle rather than just economic angle. The visit will also focus on faculty and students exchange. SMOT has plans to send all its students to Canada to undergo full training in consulting module, thus giving them an edge over others in MBA.
The delegation will also have an interaction with industry leaders while in Toronto to exchange views on opportunities that their respective countries offer for increasing economic value of trade. SMOT is currently working on an innovative “Student’s Connectivity Program” using RIM’s Black Berry solution. RIM (Research in Motion) is a Canadian major whom the delegation intends to meet.
SMOT has announced admissions for its PGPM 16-month course, a regular course starting in Sep 2008. The admissions are open to Graduate students and for candidates managing their family business. SMOT has initiated a nation-wide entrance test and the interview for admission is scheduled on July 5th. Aspiring students can register for the test on line at www.smot.edu.in
