Shri R.R.Patil, Deputy Chief Minister Lauds Podars for Educating 1000 Adivasi Girls

Maharashtra State Deputy Chief Minister, Shri. R. R. Patil held a very special felicitation function at his official residence on Monday 26th May in Mumbai for young Adivasi girls who have been ‘educationally’ adopted by Podar Vidya Sankool, Santacruz, Mumbai.
One thousand adivasi girls are being trained by Bandhilki, an NGO who is spearheading the education of the marginalized girls in western and south Maharashtra. These girls come from small ‘padas’ and ‘basti’ and get a chance to undergo an education from the financial support produced by the Podar Group of Schools.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri R.R. Patil, while congratulating the Podars on their initiative said that, ”such efforts need to be appreciated and encouraged. The selfless work, he said, also inspired him to donate an amount from his official fund”. Addressing the young girls he told them to become good human beings and occupy important positions in society and help build a strong India.
Mrs. Mamta Podar welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister with a floral tribute, while Dr. (Mrs.) V. Wad, the project co-ordinator thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for his support. Ms. Hina Shah, CEO, distributed school bags and school uniform to the young students.
