Students of Pearl Academy of Fashion, India’s leading fashion and textile institute presents design innovation and styling diversity with Spring Summer- 09’ collection of fabrics under Fabric Folio ’08, at Tex-Styles 2008 held at Pragati Maidan from March 2nd -March 5th, 2008. The event highlighted latest innovations in fabric finishes available this season pan India. It also presented a general assessment in the area of fashion fabric, wovens, knits, trims, and accessories.

The themes of the fabrics showcased by Pearl Academy students were Artificial Lights- Revitalize, Virtual Nature -Re- active, Freeze Out- Re-align and Re- cycled -The healing earth. “It was an overwhelming response – eighty leading companies including textile mills, buying houses and design companies from UK, Australia, India have booked / shortlisted 110 student swatches / designs,” said Seema Mahajan, Head of the Department – Textile Design.

Fabric Folio ‘08 represents latest developments showcasing best of India’s apparel, home furnishing fabrics and trims. The exhibition saw samples of layering effects; weaves with new structures, yarn dyed fabrics and new weaves along with a lot of flora and fauna prints. A centralized venue for display of development oriented fabrics, Fabric Folio 2008 witnessed most innovative finishes and latest trend samples from various companies. The display included traditional textiles from handlooms, power looms and developmental collections of manufacturers and craftsmen from India’s important textile centers.

Commenting on student’s works, Mr. A.K.G. Nair said “Tex-Styles India is a trade event which draws the best of not only participants from India, but also the best of buyers form across the world. It is a platform for effective interface for our students with various buyers. We spare no efforts to provide the best possible platform and guidance to nurture and nourish young and creative minds. Participating in such trade fairs imparts a better understanding of the textile industry to our students.”
