EPSI ushers in transparency for admission to higher educational institutions through ENAT
'ENAT' - First Online Combined Entrance Test to Post Graduate and Under Graduate Programmes administered by an Not for profit, Independent, Autonomous 3rd Party Agency; Single 'ENAT' score list to replace individual entrance exam processes; Student community to benefit immensely
Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI), country’s nodal catalyst, independent, autonomous and not for profit agency for promotion of Education across all fields, today announced that it is administering ENAT – EPSI National Admission Test. ENAT is India’s first online Combined Entrance Examination for admissions to Post Graduate and Undergraduate Programmes including engineering, management and medicine.
ENAT is an initiative of EPSI to usher in fair, transparent and unbiased assessment process through an online admission test that will be centrally administered by EPSI. The nodal agency aimed at increasing qualitative standards within the Indian Education sector and has engaged country’s leading assessment agency as its technology partner to ensure effective and qualitative delivery of the examination, so that students can be evaluated fairly and instantly. A unique feature of this exam is its ability to convey examinees their scores immediately as soon as they conclude the last question of the administered test.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Manohar Chellani, Secretary General, EPSI, said, “There has been an instant need for a single, universally acceptable admission test for admissions to institutions of technical and higher education in India. While, the west had a test like GRE and GMAT to fulfill this objective, the absence of a similar test in India had left an unfulfilled need that needed immediate attention.”
“ENAT is one such path breaking initiative that has been taken for the first time in India that aims at creating and setting up of a centralized assessment system that would serve as a single window entrance exam to individuals aspiring to pursue a higher education programme in a college/institution of their choice. This exam will also help the students drastically reduce stress, financial and physical pressure”, added Mr Chellani.
EPSI’s this initiative has been received very well by the Indian Private Education Players. The nodal catalyst agency is currently in various stages of discussions with over 25 educational institutions including some deemed universities for participation in this exam. Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Sikkim Manipal University and Sharda Group of Institutions are one of the first reputed and prestigious institutions that are participating in this exam. ENAT’s role is limited to assessing of the candidates and providing an eligibility list based purely on scores. The admissions to the different institutions however still remain within norms prescribed by the regulating agencies for the institutions.
The first ENAT that commenced on February 01 is being supervised by EPSI and will continue until February 10th for admission to various Post Graduate Programmes across disciplines. The test will be delivered online across 19 centers spread in 16 cities. EPSI will supervise ENAT for Undergraduate programmes later this year in the month of April and May. Over 100,000 students are expected to take up ENAT in the very first year across PG and UG programmes.
Students undertaking ENAT will be able to see their scores instantly at the end of their exam, however the score list of the exam would be put up on the last day within a couple of hours of completion of the last examination. The test involves technology to the highest level as each student would have different set of questions of equal difficulty, thus removing any remote chances of copying during the examination process. Moreover the students taking up the exam will be monitored individually and over CCTV to ensure transparency.
EPSI promotes mutual understanding for educational opportunities through exchange of outstanding Scholars, Professionals and enables Research, Lectures, academic Seminars, workshops, training programs and interaction with eminent educationists and education providers besides other stake holders including industry.
