Thirty sixth National Safety Week was observed at Tolani Maritime Institute Campus, Induri, Pune in collaboration with National Safety Council, Navi Mumbai from 4th to 10th March 2007. Many activities related to fire safety were conducted for all faculty members, housewives, security personnel and children to create awareness about importance of safety in day today life. The drawing competition was organized related to fire safety and many school children participated to mark the event also got away with prizes. A friendly cricket match was organized at the campus between staff members and others.

On March 10, 2007, concluding ceremony of the safety week was celebrated with much fanfare. Mr.U.K.Dey, Senior Instructor Fire safety, TMI demonstrated about the class of fires and how to extinguish fire in case of break out. Dr.A.R.Patnigire, Deputy Municipal commissioner of New Mumbai was invited as a chief guest of the occasion. Captain Manoj Hirkane welcomed the guest and introduced to audiences and explained how Safety Week observation is important. He also highlighted the activities conducted during the safety week. Dr.Patnigire, during his address to students and faculty members insisted the importance of the safety measures to be adopted in all our walks of life. He also emphasized about the necessity of teaching safety at all levels of education in our system. He called for 'Let safety be our motto'. Drawing from his anecdotes, he sensitized cadets about how safety measures can avoid accidents and save priceless lives during sailing. 'Safety first' was his mantra to all. As he appreciated the facilities available in Tolani Maritime Institute, he appealed to conduct training programmes to near by Industries of MIDC Chakan and Talegaon MIDC. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. U.K. Dey.
