Management Development Institute of Singapore signs MOU with Loyola College

Student exchange programmes & knowledge sharing in the offing

The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), Singapore's oldest not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Loyola College, Chennai. The MOU is a bilateral agreement focusing on development in areas of quality programmes, learning and sharing of teaching expertise, training, academic development and improving the capacities to serve their students and industry both in India as well as Singapore. The MOU was signed by Reverend Father Albert Muthumalai Principal Loyola College and Dr. R. Theyvendran, Secretary-General, MDIS.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. R. Theyvendran, Secretary-General, MDIS said, “This is the first MOU that MDIS has signed with an Indian institute. We are glad that it had to be with Loyola College because of its vast experience in the field of education and also owing to its status as an Institution of International repute.”

The objective of the MOU is to form and develop long-term collaboration and cooperation between the two institutes in the areas of faculty exchange programmes, student exchange programmes, articulation model and also offering merit scholarship programmes for financially disadvantaged student candidates.

Dr. R. Theyvendran also added, “Indian students have formed a sizeable number in our institute at Singapore and we have found them to be very disciplined and focused in their education. Students and faculty of Loyola have long been known for their professionalism and academic excellence while becoming students have gone on to become industry captains. With this agreement we are keenly looking forward in knowledge sharing, exchanging an array of proactive ideas in enhancing and enriching students’ curriculum."

Rev Father Albert Muthumalai, Principal Loyola College said, “This is indeed a step in the right direction for an institute like Loyola which has been in the forefront of providing path breaking trends in the field of education. We are proud to associate ourselves with MDIS as it is focused on providing highest quality of education at affordable cost, the fact that it is a not-for-profit professional institute emphasizes the fact that education needs to be within the reach of all strata of the society.”

The MOU signed becomes effective for the new batch of students starting with the academic year 2007- 2008. For the future MDIS has similar plans of aligning with educational institutes across India.

MDIS provides the opportunity for individuals to develop professionally through academic programmes in areas like Business Management, Marketing, Accounting & Finance, International Business, Management with Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Mass Communications, Communication and IT, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Management, Biotechnology and Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management. These courses are offered in collaboration with acclaimed institutes like Grenoble Graduate School of Business (GGSB) France, University of Bradford and other eminent institutes from the United Kingdom, United States of America and Australia.
