Amway Opportunity Foundation along with Arushi inaugurates a full-fledged computer training center for the visually impaired in Bhopal

Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India, inaugurated a full-fledged Computer Training Centre located at the premises of Arushi, Bhopal. The primary aim of this Computer Training Center is to enable access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services to persons with visual impairment.

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, December 4, 2016 /India PRwire/ -- Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India, inaugurated a full-fledged Computer Training Centre located at the premises of Arushi, Bhopal. The primary aim of this Computer Training Center is to enable access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services to persons with visual impairment.

Mr. V.K Batham, Principal Secretary, Social Justice, Disable Welfare & Parliamentary Affairs, Govt of Madhya Pradesh, inaugurated the AOF-Arushi Computer Training Centre at Bhopal. Present on the occasion were Mr. Sandeep Prakash, Senior Vice President -West & South, Amway India, Mr. Pradeep Karambelkar, Chairman CII Bhopal Zonal Council, Dr. Rohit Trivedi, Volunteer, Arushi, Amway distributors and staff.

The computer center at Arushi is fully equipped with 10 computers, a UPS and a printer. The center will provide training to the visually challenged on Windows platform with more focus on using web based tools and services. The computer systems are equipped with requisite software which makes it friendly for the visually impaired individuals. The center will be helpful to prepare students for the Computer Proficiency Certification test (CPCT) and thus make them more employable.

Mr. Sandeep Prakash, Senior Vice President -West & South, Amway India, said, "Arushi has been doing credible work in the area of capacity building for visually impaired individuals. We are confident that this newly instituted computer center will help the students enhance their computer proficiency in this digital age. Our endeavor is to enable the visually impaired individuals to lead a better life by making them self-reliant."

Speaking on the inauguration of the computer center, Dr. Rohit Trivedi, Volunteer, Arushi said "Arushi has been relentlessly working for visually impaired people by developing educational, vocational and employment programs. This computer center will enable visually impaired students and working professionals to learn & enhance their computer knowledge. In addition it will also serve as platform to integrate them with the mainstream society. We thank AOF for setting up this center at Arushi premises." Over the years, Amway Opportunity Foundation has benefited more than 1 lakh visually challenged individuals, especially children, under national project for the visually impaired. AOF has supported more than 85,000 visually challenged children with Braille textbooks. AOF, currently supports 15 computer centres across the country aimed at enhancing computer skills of the visually impaired.
