Afcons Infrastructure bags $ 200 million job in Jordan
Joining the International EPC league
Tweet-- Afcons Infrastructure Limited, a part of 50 year old Shapoorji Pallonji Group Company, has secured an EPC Contract worth of USD 200 million for the New Rock Phosphate Terminal, Aqaba from the state-owned Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) in Jordan. This is the first project bagged through competitive bidding by Afcons Infrastructure in Jordan.
Mr N Selvaraj, Director (Operations) for the Marine SBU, said, "Considered to be one of the big EPC projects bagged by us, this contract puts Afcons in the EPC League for large contracts and also provides a platform for getting additional marine works at Aqaba port, Jordan, Iraq and other countries in Gulf region".
Afcons has got its presence in Middle East and Africa and have done works in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Yemen, Oman, Madagascar and Mauritius.
The Phosphate terminal of Jordan will be constructed over a period of 25.5 months and the project involves building an annual 4 Million tonne export terminal including truck intake stations with dust suppression grids, truck weighbridges, truck routing system, storage facilities including three bulk flat stores (190m X 100 m) and conveying equipment and Marine Terminal including surge bins which are fed from 2kms long environment friendly pipe conveyors, two ship unloaders each 2200 tons/hr and 280 m long jetty to receive ships of 1,00,000 DWT. Also all buildings and utilities like power supply, communication, terminal lighting, drainage, sewerage, fire fighting facilities will form part of the project.
For the mechanical electrical works of material handling system, M/s. FLSmidth, Germany is subcontractors. Royal Haskoning of the Netherlands is the Project Management Consultant.
