Shriram EPC wins two orders from Steel Authority of India, Rourkela Steel Plant
Shriram EPC Limited (SEPC), a leading integrated engineering service provider for renewable energy projects, process and metallurgical plants and municipal service sector projects has bagged two orders amounting to Rs.315 crores from Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant.
Shriram EPC Limited (SEPC), a leading integrated engineering service provider for renewable energy projects, process and metallurgical plants and municipal service sector projects has bagged two orders amounting to Rs.315 crores from Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant.
The first order includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, commissioning and establishment of performance guarantee of Coal Chemical Plant. This order would be executed in consortium with Hutni Projekt Frydek-Mistek a. s., Czech Republic, and this project is to be commissioned within 28 months from the date of signing of the contract.
The second order includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, commissioning and establishment of performance guarantee for Ammonia Liquor Treatment Plant and Ammonium Sulphate Plant for upgradation of Coal Chemical Plant. This project is to be commissioned 18 months from the date of signing of the contract.
Commenting on the order wins, Mr. T. Shivaraman, Managing Director & CEO of Shriram EPC Limited, said that, “We are extremely happy to receive such prestigious orders from Steel Authority of India, as this is the first time in recent years that they have placed a single turnkey contract for the complete by product recovery plant for a coke oven battery.” He further added that “We are delighted to win our first order along with our consortium partner Hutni, a world leading coke oven and by product technology company with a track record of 55 years in the business. Our partnership with Hutni will open up the market for bidding for the coke oven battery.”
Shriram EPC has been working on coke oven and related areas for over 5 years now and this contract is culmination of the long effort. The market for such projects in India is quite large with most of the large steel plants going for expansion as well as for major rebuilding and modernization of existing facilities.

About Steel Authority of India, Rourkela Steel Plant
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), the first integrated steel plant in the Public Sector in India, was set up with German collaboration with an installed capacity of 1 million tonnes. Subsequently, the capacity was enhanced to 1.9 million tonnes. The plant was modernized in the mid 1990s with a number of new units with state-of -the-art facilities. Most of the old units have also been revamped for effecting substantial improvement in the quality of products, reducing the cost and ensuring cleaner environment.
RSP is the only plant in SAIL to produce silicon steels for the power sector, high quality pipes for the oil and gas sector and tin plates for the packaging industry. .
