Mekaster selected as industry partner by NAM Science & Technology Centre

New Delhi-based Mekaster which manufactures mechanised construction equipment including fixed form concrete paving equipment, construction elevators, industrial hoists and shaft raising platforms now plans to take these products and engineering services to other countries on turn key basis. Towards this affect it was recently selected by Non Aligned Movement (NAM) Science & Technology Centre as industry partner to promote its product and services in 42 NAM member countries.

Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, June 3, 2008 /India PRwire/ -- New Delhi-based Mekaster which manufactures mechanised construction equipment including fixed form concrete paving equipment, construction elevators, industrial hoists and shaft raising platforms now plans to take these products and engineering services to other countries on turn key basis. Towards this affect it was recently selected by Non Aligned Movement (NAM) Science & Technology Centre as industry partner to promote its product and services in 42 NAM member countries.

According to Mr. V.M. Trehan, Chairman of Mekaster Group, it is in the process of setting up a additional manufacturing unit in Halol in Gujarat to meet the surging future demand in the country and overseas.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Trehan said through the present forum for NAM, Mekaster would play a pro-active role for promotion of self reliance amongst the developing countries; in particular with member countries of the NAM, in the areas of Construction Engineering, Industry for Infra-structure development, Information and Communication Technology as well as alternative energy source.

Adding further he stated that Mekaster has more than 400 sites being serviced with its equipment and 200 more sites will be added this year. We trust that our initiative in joining the NAM Science Centre would be worthwhile for all of us.

Mr. Trehan played a key role in the development of Science and Technology. He devoted lot of time propagating Science. In pursuit of this cause, he was responsible for ushering in the Digital Switching System in India, an important milestone in the history of Indian Telecom. And that marks an important phase of Indian Telecommunications and has opened the doors for development of telecommunications in the country.

Further, he was instrumental in setting up National Telematics Forum (NTF), which played a major role in formulating the National Telecom Policy. Subsequently he was a Member of Advisory Panel of Telecommunications of the Planning Commission.

Mr. Trehan is a well known figure, nationally and internationally in the field of Trade and Commerce being the promoter and Chairman of Mekaster Group of Companies, well established name in the field of Manufacturing, Construction, Petrochemicals, Refineries etc. as well as International Trading.

As a member of FICCI Joint Business Council, International Chamber of Commerce and Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Trehan accompanied the Prime Minister of India to Japan and France, besides being part of several other delegations to Holland, Spain, Portugal and USA.

He has been a Member of Advisory Panel of Telecommunications of the Planning Commission and presided over and attended the International Telecommunication Union Conference in Geneva, International Computers & Communications (I. C. & C) Conference in Sydney and Paris, being a sole invitee from India, interacting with ECC countries delegates and also attended several World Economic Forum meeting/s in Davos, Switzerland.
