Software for monitoring NREGA, 'Nregasoft', bags Microsoft e-Governance Award 2006

NREGAsoft, a software of the Ministry of Rural Development to effectively monitor implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) across the country, has bagged Microsoft e-governance award 2006.

New Delhi, Delhi, October 4, 2006 /India PRwire/ -- NREGAsoft, a software of the Ministry of Rural Development to effectively monitor implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) across the country, has bagged Microsoft e-governance award 2006.

The software has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) at the behest of the Ministry of Rural Development for e-governance of NREGA. Through this software, every minute detail about implementation of NREGA is now available online. A citizen can now access information about the individual labourer and the duration for which he/she has worked under NREGA and details of wages that has been paid. With this software, the Government can track every single rupee.

The Rural Development Ministry had asked the NIC to develop a software for effective monitoring of NREGA in the beginning of the year 2006. The team of NIC engineers headed by Smt. Madhuri Sharma, Technical Director has developed the software, which is in use in almost all the States across the country.
