Mumbai, Maharashtra, April 19, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- English husband and wife team Michael and Diana Preston famously known as Alex Rutherford along with eminent Columnist blogger & painter Saaz Aggarwal unveiled their book "Empire of the Moghul - Brothers at War"to a packed house at Crossword Kemps Corner on Friday, 16th April 2010.

The rule of the Moghuls is unarguably the most dramatic of all Indian pre-independence history. There is treachery; infighting, passion, love, inter-caste marriages, art, deceit, triumph; all of which together make it a heady cocktail of fast-paced; passionate interludes. The Moghul era has been chronicled severally by great authors such as Dalrymple and Schimmel. However, the Empire of the Moghul series, by Alex Rutherford (pen name for the couple Michael and Diana Preston); commands its place of pride among writing pertaining to that period.

'Brothers at war' is the second book of the series; the first being 'raiders from the north.' Exhaustively researched, the book is almost like watching a movie; that establishes each character and unfolds each incident methodically; evocatively.

The book deals with the innumerable plots hatched by Humayun's half brothers to overthrow him; motivated partly by greed and partly by their perception of Humayun as too weak to execute the task at hand. In deftly unravelling the historical plot and keeping the reader engrossed, Alex Rutherford's work has been compared favorably with the great epic historian Conn Iggulden and Roman Military fiction writer Simon Scarrow.

Empire of the Moghuls; Brothers at war is a must-read for every Indian who wants to reflect on a slice of delectable, dramatic history.

Headline Publishing Group; Rs. 495.

About the Author: Alex Rutherford

English husband and wife team Michael and Diana Preston are 'Alex Rutherford'. They both studied at Oxford University before meeting each other while both working for the British Civil Service. Sharing a love of travel and far-flung places, they took time out to travel around the world - a decision they regretted only once when stranded on a remote island off the coast of Borneo and forced to hide from pirates! They've since drawn on their travels and interest in history to write historical non-fiction, for which they've won awards. Diana and Mike's great interests are the Moghuls and this, their first work of historical fiction, is the result of many years of research.
