-- Reliance TimeOut, the books, magazine and music specialty format of Reliance Retail in association with Research Press today announced the release of India Inc. by Vikas Pota at Reliance TimeOut Ambiance Mall, Gurgaon. The release was followed by insights and discussion with the author.
In India Inc. Vikas Pota looks at India's second wave of Indian entrepreneurs, who have followed in the footsteps of entrepreneurial giants and corporate superpowers like Tata, and have put India even more firmly on the world map.
On the occasion of the launch, Deepinder Kapany, Business Head, Reliance TimeOut, said, "We are thrilled to launch India Inc. by Vikas Pota at Reliance TimeOut. The book is a must have for all entrepreneurs who can get valuable tips and guidelines from reading the spirit, struggles and success of great personalities like Narayana Murthy, Shiv Nadar, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and many others. It is the aim of the Reliance TimeOut to constantly have exciting and engaging book readings, launches and events at the store and this is another event in that direction. I am sure readers will love this book."
Vikas Pota describes these entrepreneurs with a lively pen. He shows how their background has shaped their entrepreneurial spirit, and explores their businesses to understand how they have grown into international successes. Pota describes the turning points which have 'made' these companies and follows the entrepreneurs through the many hurdles they have endured and survived. He also looks at their Indian identity and how it has shaped their life vision.
Some of the entrepreneurs described in India Inc. are Narayana Murthy (of Infosys Technologies, a Bangalore-based IT consulting global giant), Subhash Chandra, the ingenious and resolute founder of Zee TV, India's first satellite channel - who took on Rupert Murdoch - Malvinder Singh, who in his 30s became CEO of Ranbaxy, India's largest pharma company and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairwoman of Biocon India, Asia's largest biotechnology company, which she started in a garage.
All these stories show the power of human determination and resourcefulness. Often against all odds, with few resources and sometimes fighting a crippling bureaucracy, these entrepreneurs were able to stick to their vision no matter what. They've not only created household names, but also companies which are increasingly important players in the global scene and might well steal the show from under the noses of more traditional and established businesses.
