The life and teachings of Kanchi Mahaswami, reverentially called the "Paramacharya", have made a significant and profound impact on the spiritual lives of many, both in India and abroad.

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, February 15, 2010 /India PRwire/ -- The life and teachings of Kanchi Mahaswami, reverentially called the "Paramacharya", have made a significant and profound impact on the spiritual lives of many, both in India and abroad. Despite there being volumes written on him and his teachings on various aspects concerning human life, a persistent need has been always felt for compiling a threadbare account of one hundred years of his divine life and perpetuating his memory for the benefit of posterity.

It is in this context, the Sankara Bhakta Jana Sabha Trust, Chennai made painstaking efforts to gather and compile the photographs of the Mahaswami taken at various points of time during his sojourn on this earth. The Trust takes pride in having already created a fitting monument in the form of Kanchi Mahaswami Darshan Hall at Kanchipuram wherein several rare photographs of the Mahaswami have been displayed for public darshan. Hundreds and thousands of devotees have been thronging the Hall everyday seeking divine benedictions from the great seer.

However, in deference to the wishes expressed by the devotees of Mahaswami, the Trust has now brought out a pictorial biography of the saint, titled 'Dhivya Darshan of Kanchi Mahaswami'. This book, in two volumes, is indeed a unique compilation of more than 500 rare photographs of the Mahaswami, chronologically arranged, delineating the various events during his entire lifetime. The book adds yet another dimension to the vast literature available on the Kanchi Paramacharya and is sure to quench the spiritual thirst of his ardent devotees. The uniqueness of the book lies in the fact that it has been brought out as a collector's edition and around 1,800 devotees have come forward to donate Rs.1,000/- each even before its formal publication. A free copy of the book will be sent to all such donors.

The book was released today (February 10, 2010) in Chennai by the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetathipathi, His Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal who solemnized the event and blessed the efforts of Sri Sankara Bhakta Jana Sabha Trust. The first copy was received by Sri V. Shankar from Mumbai, a devotee of Mahaswami. The guest speakers on the occasion included Sri. A.M. Rajagopalan, Editor, Kumudam Jothidam and Dr. N. Veezhinathan, Prof. of Sanskrit (Retd), University of Madras.

The Second edition of this unique compilation will be brought out shortly. A copy of the second edition book will be given free to the devotees who donate more than Rs.2,000/- to the Trust. The Trust will utilize the donations for the regular upkeep and maintenance of Mahaswami Darshan Hall at Kanchipuram.
