The BioAsia 2012 CEO Conclave will this year host a Workshop focussing on Identifying Mega Trends in the Lifesciences Industry for the next decade and their impact
Tweet-- The Ninth edition of BioAsia which will be held in February 2012 in Hyderabad will for the first time partner with Frost & Sullivan who has come on board as Knowledge Partners for CEO Conclave which will focus on "Mega Trends: The New Frontier".
The CEO CONCLAVE 2012 is scheduled to be held on second day of the annual event i.e., on Friday, 10th February, 2012 at 18:30 Hrs.
Frost & Sullivan, who has designed and conceptualized Mega Trends as part of its Visionary Innovation Program, defines Mega Trends as global, sustained and macroeconomic forces of development that impact business, economy, careers, cultures and personal lives, thereby defining our future world and its increasing pace of change.
Announcing the partnership, Sandeep Sinha, Director, Healthcare Practice, South Asia and Middle East, Frost & Sullivan said, "We are delighted to be a part of BioAsia 2012. My experience in the past with BioAsia as an attendee has been excellent and has convinced me to be part of the next edition." Talking about focus of CEO Conclave 2012 he said "Mega Trends are connected and intertwined, which suggests 'synergetic' opportunities exist between them. It is therefore important to understand this synergy and interrelation between trends to maximise growth opportunities. Our objective would be to help the companies identify these opportunities."
"The CEO Conclave is an exclusive event for "C" suite executives and has been the most successful and the most awaited component of BioAsia in the past. CEO Conclave in 2011 saw Dr. Anji Reddy, Chairman, DRL; Mr. DS Brar, Chairman, GVK Biosciences; amongst others. With the support of Frost & Sullivan, this year we are introducing an entirely new concept called Mega Trends during the CEO Conclave 2012 and we are confident that the event will be extremely successful," said CEO - BioAsia 2012, Mr. Shakthi M Nagappan.
According to a survey done by Frost & Sullivan, in the year 2000 there were many Mega Trends that had impacted the global economy. The most significant among them was the emergence of China as the next superpower. This phenomenon reflected true in the pharma sector as the market in China is now US $37 billion while the Indian market is currently at US $12 billion. Another trend that was revealed in the survey was the growth of internet retail and e-commerce, which also had an impact on the pharma sector, wherein we saw a clear shift towards digital mediums for marketing when compared to other traditional methods. An exciting trend, that is, outsourcing as a business model has also had a positive impact on many industries; the boom of Contract Research and Manufacturing Services (CRAMS) and Contract Research Organization (CRO) in the last decade would serve as an example to support this trend.
The 2012 edition of BioAsia will have the CEO Conclave hosted by Frost & Sullivan. It will be a Workshop that will see who's who of the pharma/lifesciences industry come together and brainstorm on the key mega trends that lie ahead for the Industry in the coming decade and how it would impact them. The workshop will cover:
- Concept of a MEGA TREND
- Key MEGA TRENDS as identified by Frost & Sullivan
- Possible MEGA TRENDS as identified by Industry Participants during the workshop
- Transaction plan for respective companies that will quantify the use of the MEGA TRENDS
- On the basis of identified MEGA TRENDS, the growth opportunities that lie ahead for the Life sciences industry
Based on the deliberations of the conclave, a white paper will be prepared and submitted to the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and other relevant governmental agencies with some policy recommendations.
"The last edition of BioAsia saw 38 participating countries and 400 B2B meetings which was the highest ever in history of the event. The Conclave 2011 recorded participation of over 60 captains of the reputed industries. This year given the changed format and major highlights like Mega Trends, we expect many more delegates to participate and make optimum use of such great opportunities", concluded Mr. Shakthi M Nagappan.
