-- British Airways has added a new route to its network with the inaugural flight from London, Gatwick landing at Male in The Maldives on October 26 at 09:30 am. Flight BA 2043, a full flight, carried over 260 passengers from London to Male via a 10 hour direct flight.
The new thrice weekly route is the first time British Airways has offered flights to the island. Flights to Male leave London Gatwick every Sunday, Tuesday and Friday. The routes are served by a Boeing 777 aircraft with a three-class configuration: World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and Club World.
Judy Jarvis, British Airways Regional Commercial Manager, South Asia said, “Flight BA 2043 offers BA customers a direct route from autumn in London to the sun in The Maldives and is one of the easiest ways to get to one of the most desired holiday destinations in the world. Going by the excellent response we have received on our very first flight we are confident it will be a great success. It will boost tourism in the region and give our customers a great luxury destination with minimum travel time and inconvenience.”
British Airways customers traveling to The Maldives will have access to a fantastic selection of palm fringed coral islands and lagoons with access to exclusive resort hotels. With around 1,192 coral islets spanning 90,000 square kilometers and a natural ground level of 2.3 metres, the Maldives has the lowest highest point in the world.
