Sabre Holdings has outlined a number of initiatives to increase focus on the fast growing Indian airline and travel Industry. The plans include offering innovative technology solutions to the local low-cost as well as full-service airlines, consumer launch of Travelocity, the world’s leading OTA, and significantly increasing the head count at the Global Solutions Centre based in Bangalore.

Sabre Holdings has a dominant share of travel distribution and technology solutions for the global travel industry, and also offers retail travel products to millions of customers worldwide. Sabre Airlines Solutions’ Indian customers include Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Indigo and Paramount Airways.

Announcing the various initiatives, Mr. Vish Viswanathan, Regional Vice President, Sabre Holdings, said, “India is one of the world’s most important markets for Sabre Holdings as the travel industry here is expected to grow to US$ 75 billion in the next ten years. We want to be an active and valuable partner for both the Indian travel industry and the Indian consumer.”

Travelocity, the world’s leading online travel portal, is part of Sabre Holdings. Travelocity opened offices in India earlier this year with a soft launch with limited service offerings. “The consumer launch of Travelocity.co.in with full online service offerings is expected in this quarter”, said Himanshu Singh, Managing Director of Travelocity India.

Mr Viswanathan further stated, “Sabre Holdings has the largest local presence in India, more than any other global travel marketing and distribution company. At our Global Solutions Centre in Bangalore, we have about 250 highly skilled staff. We plan to increase employee strength to 550 in the coming years.”

Sabre’s India GSC provides a range of high-end technology services to a number of Sabre’s global business units, including Sabre Airlines Solutions, Sabre Travel Network, Travelocity and lastminute.com. The Centre also offers solutions delivery support to local airlines such as Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines.
