Plans are underway for developing similar centres in Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Chennai (within India), to widen its nationwide presence.
Amongst its many firsts, Premier brought India the first CNC Vertical Turning Lathe, the first CNC machining center, and the first CNC gear hobbing machine. Recently, it introduced India's first CNC gear shaper with an electronic guide. Premier was the proud recipient of the FIE Foundation Award at IMTEX 2011 (India's largest Machine Tool Trade Fair) in the 'Technologically Innovative Product' category for its CNC High Speed Gear Shaper. It is currently working on large sized machines which have strong demand in the Heavy Engineering sector in India.

About Premier Ltd.
Established in 1944, Premier Automobiles Ltd. pioneered automobile manufacturing in India. It is now called Premier Ltd., focussing on three core businesses, namely CNC Machine Tools, Automotive and Heavy Engineering. The heavy engineering business provides components for the wind energy, power generation and infrastructure sectors. The automotive division recently launced a compact SUV called the RiO. Although not commonly known, Premier is a pioneer in the Indian machine tool industry, having started operations in 1961 under the 'Cooper' banner. The brand name was later changed to 'Premier' in 2005, under which the entire range of machines is now marketed. Premier is the dominant player in the CNC gear cutting machine industry, with more than a 70% market share in India. It provides a complete range of gear solutions: hobbing, shaping, shaving, gear tooth chamfering and rounding. It is also a leading manufacturer of very large, heavy duty CNC machines such as vertical turning centres and customized special purpose machines generally used in heavy engineering sectors such as railway workshops, heavy machinery manufacture, earth moving companies etc. Two years ago, Premier forayed into the fast-moving, high-volume small machining centre business with its own PVM40 machining centre, developed entirely by its in-house R&D. This model has now been completely revamped with significant technical upgradation to penetrate the SME customer base.
