Marc Nassif Appointed Executive Director of Renault India and Country General Manager for Renault in India from April 1, 2009

Effective April 1, Marc Nassif will be appointed Executive Director of Renault India and Country General Manager for Renault in India, responsible for all activities of Renault in India.

Noida, Uttar Pradesh, March 23, 2009 /India PRwire/ -- Effective April 1, Marc Nassif will be appointed Executive Director of Renault India and Country General Manager for Renault in India, responsible for all activities of Renault in India. Marc is currently Deputy Managing Director of Renault Nissan Automotive Private Limited (RNAIPL), based in Chennai and will continue to keep this responsibility. Marc Nassif will report to Katsumi Nakamura, member of the Renault Executive Committee and Leader of the Region Asia Africa.

At the same time, Sudhir Rao has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Renault India, reporting to Marc Nassif.

After 25 years with Renault and the last 4 years heading Renault operations in India, Sylvain BILAINE has decided to leave the company to create his own consultancy firm in France. In his last position as Country General Manager for Renault in India, Sylvain played a key role in creating & building a 100% subsidiary of Renault s.a.s. and growing it into a service company in less than 2 years. He has been directly responsible for negotiating the creation of Mahindra Renault Pvt. Ltd. – the JV with the Mahindra group for the development of the Logan car for the Indian markets. He also initiated the Ultra low Cost vehicle project with Bajaj Auto. The above appointments reflect the strong & continuing commitment from Renault in strengthening our market presence, along with our Alliance and JV partners, in the extremely important Indian market.

Born in Cairo in 1962, Marc Nassif has a graduate degree in engineering from Institut Catholique d’Arts et Métiers and a graduate degree in business administration from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales. He did a Stanford Executive Program in 2004 .In 1985 he joined Renault. He has occupied different positions in Engineering, Manufacturing, HR (recruitment), and Quality. He has launched in 2001 a new Renault plant in Brazil, one of the first ones to cross-manufacture for Renault and Nissan. Before being assigned to the India project in 2006, he was in charge of Corporate Manufacturing Quality (2004 to 2006). He is currently Deputy Managing Director of Renault Nissan Automotive Private Limited RNAIPL based in Chennai. Along his career Marc has worked in France (in Technocenter, HQ and Le Mans plant) and many other countries USA (1984, vehicle engineering), Mexico (1885/86 Powertrain engineering), Spain (1991 to 1996 Vehicle Process engineering), Brazil (2000 to 2004 Plant General Manager), and is now settled in India since 2008. In his last position in India, Marc has been instrumental in preparing and negotiating with Tamil Nadu Government, a positive framework for the Renault and Nissan project in Chennai.
