Kochi, the city of auto lovers is hosting ‘The 11th Cochin Motor Show’ from 18th December to 21st December 2008 at the Rajeev Gandhi Indoor stadium. The show was officially declared by Mr. N.M Sukumaran, Regional Transportation Officer, Ernakulam in Kochi today with the unveiling of the event logo.

The show organized by Impresario Event Management Company will showcase a dazzling array of designer cars and bikes, electric scooters, vintage cars, hybrid cars, off-road vehicles, concept cars, high performance sports cars, commercial vehicles, and many more. The show will also feature other facets of the automobile industry like auto components and accessories and finance. The world’s most desirable cars, the very latest accessories and gadgets, exchange offers and free check up camp are the highlights of the show.

The Cochin motor show is Kerala’s biggest motoring event since its launch in 1996. The Motor show has grown at an astonishing rate as Kerala is showing signs towards becoming a potential market for premium and luxury cars with Kochi as the industrial and commercial hub of the state being eyed up by many car makers to start dealerships. Premium car manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Volvo and Volkswagen have alreadyannounced opening of their dealerships in Kochi.

The two-wheeler manufacturers are especially encouraged by the enthusiasm of the young riders who look for trendy products all the time. Some of the bike manufacturers are also targeting young ladies and making bikes that are comfortable and cater specially to their needs.

Until the mid-80s, the only cars really available in India were the Ambassador and the Premier Padmini but the present scenario in the Indian market has changed with an array of luxury cars to choose from. Today we can walk into a showroom and drive off with the car of your choice if you have the money.

Now customer expectations are getting sky-high on one hand and manufacturers insist on world-class ambience and facilities at the showrooms and workshops. The Cochin Motor Show will be a perfect destination for all the automobile enthusiasts in Kerala. All the cars that are likely to get launched by next year are also expected to be on display.
