Mahindra Intertrade to be India's first independent service centre to market Auto Skin Panel profiles
World Class Blanking Line facility inaugurated at Nashik
Tweet-- Mahindra & Mahindra today inaugurated its state –of-the-art Blanking Line facility in Nashik backed by German technology. The new blanking line has been set up by Mahindra Intertrade Ltd. (MIL), which is a part of the Mahindra Group’s Trade & Financial Services Sector. An investment of Rs. 50 cr has been made so far in the plant.
Mr. Bharat Doshi, Chairman, Mahindra Intertrade Ltd., said, “The Blanking Line facility set up by Mahindra Intertrade rivals the world’s best in class. With India becoming a hub for global automotive majors, this new customer centric initiative from Mahindras will serve the automotive industry’s demand for quality blanked profiles. ”
Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive Sector, and Member of the MIL Board, said, “This key project is in line with M&M’s global expansion plans and is aimed at servicing the needs of the Group’s ever-expanding production volumes in addition to servicing the needs of other automotive majors for skin panel profiles.”
MIL’s high precision blanking line will process steel coils for supply of automotive body profiles and rectangular and trapezoidal sheets required for press shop operations. It will also look at export of profiles to S.E Asia.
Displaying leadership
The plant marks a first, both for M&M and the automotive industry in India. Mahindra Intertrade’s blanking line will be the first and only independent automotive facility for blanked skin panels in India.
Strategic location
The facility is strategically located just 25 km from Nashik city, and is best placed to to cater to the automotive belt around Pune.
The proposed blanking line will handle wide-width material upto 2000mm and is equipped with an oil based Washing unit especially designed for skin panels, the first such unit in India.
The equipment for the facility is being imported from Müller Wiengarten of Germany. Müller Wiengarten is the global technology leader in the field of metal forming for the automotive industry.
Traditionally, automotive plants have their own blanking line operations. M&M, in keeping with its tradition of pioneering process and product innovation, will be the first automotive major in India to outsource manufacture of blanked body profiles, or skin panels, thus rewriting the rules of the way this business is conducted in India in the years to follow, as elsewhere in the world.
