PRCAI to Set Process Standards and Establish Knowledge Forums
New Management Committee Elected at April AGM, Takes Proactive Stance on Digital Space
Tweet-- The Public Relations Consultants Association of India (PRCAI), the apex body of PR (public relations) consultancies in India, plans to set new process standards in place and establish knowledge forums across key centres in India. This was decided at its recent annual general meeting. PRCAI, which elected a new managing committee at the April 17 AGM, is also gearing up to meet the changing needs of a slowing economy and focus on the adoption of Web 2.0 in the digital media space
PRCAI will also shortly release a detailed research study on the PR and communications industry in India. Involving users, including the media, the research focuses on best industry practices, identify key growth sectors and will profile the public relations and public affairs industry across the country.
The new Managing Committee comprises, 20:20 Media General Manager Chetan Mahajan as President, Integral PR MS & CEO Sharif Rangnekar as Vice-President and Avian Media CEO Nitin Mantri as Secretary. The key appointees for the Regional Chapters are: Genesis Burson Marsteller Managing Partner for the Northern Region Nikhil Dey as Chairperson, North; The PRactice Account Director Shane Jacob as Chairperson, South; Comma Consulting General Manager Amitesh Banerjee as Chairperson, West. Appointees for Vice-Chairpersons are: CMCG India MD Samir Kale as Vice-Chairperson, West; 20:20 Media Branch Director Viju George as Vice-Chairperson, South; Genesis Burson Marsteller Consulting Associate Diya Nair as Vice-Chairperson, East.
Representing 20 of the top PR consultancies in India, PRCAI will undertake a number of activities through 2009 to enhance the significance of communications as a key tool in stakeholder management.
PRCAI will continue to work with its member-agencies to develop the talent in the industry and promote ethical standards in PR services. It will also continue to organise informative seminars and knowledge sessions with speakers from across industries sharing their views on topics and issues impacting the Public Relations business.

The PRCAI is a trade association that will represent India's public relations consultancy sector while providing a forum for Government, public bodies, industry associations, trade and others to confer with public relations consultants as a body.
The Membership of PRCAI is restricted to consultancies that meet the basic criteria set out by the Association.
The Association will provide a formal, professional mechanism, with its range of membership services and Information for the PR industry to improve profitability while following a Code of Practice along with global benchmarks.
