Equity markets flat early afternoon
Indian equity markets stayed flat early Thursday afternoon after highly volatile trading. Capital goods, oil and gas stocks were under selling pressure while metal and auto stocks were in demand.

Indian equity markets stayed flat early Thursday afternoon after highly volatile trading. Capital goods, oil and gas stocks were under selling pressure while metal and auto stocks were in demand.
At 12:15 p.m., the 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, was at 15,113.28 points, up 39.74 points or 0.26 percent from its closing figure Wednesday. It had touched a high of 15,220.86 points earlier Thursday.
At the same time the broader based S and amp;P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange was up by 12.75 points or 0.28 percent at 4,530.30.
The market breadth was positive. On BSE, 1,362 shares advanced, 1,015 declined and 76 remained unchanged.
