The Chhattisgarh government will spend Rs.315.8 million ($7.3 million) to construct an anicut on Mahanadi river to ensure water supply to the upcoming mega satellite city, Naya Raipur.
Official sources said Monday that the government would spend the amount in the current fiscal to construct the anicut in Tila village.
Naya Raipur will be spread over 8,000 hectares, for which the government is in final process to acquire the land of 20 villages.
Naya Raipur will replace Raipur as the state capital within the next three years. The new city, about 20 km east from here, is located between National Highway Nos. 6 and 43 and will be connected to Raipur by an expressway.
